Past clients experiences

Exploring the rich craft heritage of Gujarat was a treat for the senses! Traveling from Birmingham, Alabama to experience first-hand the exquisite craft of weaving a complex Patola saree or the painting of Rogan Art or the making of vibrant rolling pins using lacquer art, and more, added to the trip. Having an explorer from DIMLI Curated Craft Tours with us to tell us about the history, the stories of the artisans, help us navigate through the dusty village roads and plan a most exciting and enjoyable trip for us was a treat!! We even visited the Great Rann of Kutch, one of the largest salt marshes in the world! And, the opportunity to shop directly from the artisans, after a sumptuous home-made meal in their cottage, made it very gratifying as we knew the hands that made the beautiful products we bought.

As we walk through the villages of Jamdani and Muslin you hear it from everywhere: “tick tick, tick tick.. “, the sound of weaving on handlooms. Next to the fascinating looms that are fitted in to the floors in every house, this sound is one of my strongest memories. The colorful yarns blowing in the wind while rituals are celebrated on the centre place. While exploring the traditions of weaving with Mitun, there was always a surprise just around the corner. While spending some time at a small hotel waiting for some home cooked meal, Mitun told us many fascinating stories about hand crafting and how it affects the weavers today. I would highly recommend this tour for everyone who wants to see authentic India and its crafting techniques. Also, bought a beautiful Jamdani cotton scarf directly from the weaver! Thanks again for the wonderful time!

It was the most authentic travel experience I have ever had. As a Designer it was fascinating to see how cloth is woven by hand and the skills it takes to hand embroider and handprint textiles. The weavers in the village were so welcoming, they invited us into their houses and showed us their everyday life. The tour was very well organized. Mitun is a very experienced and knowledgeable guide who took great care to find the best local craft workshops as well as local culinary treats. This is the closest insight you can get on the wonderful work of Indian artisans.
